We found the house to be even more beautiful than it looked in the photos on the listing! The decor was modern but approachable and the furniture was beautiful and comfortable. The appliances were new and of high quality. Everything was clean and clutter free, but still had character and personality, not a "sterile" feeling.
The house felt private but not isolated. The surroundings were beautiful. The sound of birdsong in the morning was a lovely thing to wake up to.
We appreciated Jarlath's welcome and him giving us a thorough briefing of how to properly operate everything in the house so we weren't left wondering, "how does this thing work?!" He also gave us an overview of the area, shopping tips, and maps to reference, all with a healthy dose of wit and humor.
Safe parking right in the driveway was also a huge bonus.

It was a bit tricky to find the house , but their clear instructions to use the eirecode helped. we drove in and out of Galway, mostly due to weather , but one could probably walk. Not many restaurants or pubs nearby , but a tesco was close. The property is a wonderful getaway from the city .”

“What a great location outside of Galway. Perfect to watch the rains, trees swaying and see the birds of Ireland. They even left us an informative visual sheet that assisted in getting to know the feathered locals. This spot has all the amenities — we didn’t go without thanks to the fabulously stocked kitchen! Plumbing can be a tad loud but it runs hot and provides an excellent shower. Wonderful people, wonderful home — so glad we stayed here. Will recommend to our friends! Go raibh maith agat”
“I am sad I am only limited to five stars. This place deserves 10 stars! Mary and Jarl have gone out of their way to make this a wonderful sanctuary for the traveller! Lovely pristine place surrounded by beautiful gardens, and lots of birds. You really feel like a little bit of paradise was captured for you! We enjoyed our stay and all the amenities of the apartment! Also I have to mention the extras that they gave us, fresh fruit, and all the food essentials, eggs, milk and bread plus other extras as well. It truly felt like you were staying with family! “Mary’s place is squeaky CLEAN. I felt like I was home and everything we needed was available. Mary’s husband let us in and he gave us a quick tour to explain where everything was. He even showed us a list of birds that we can watch right outside the window where the bird feeder is. The place is immaculate. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and clean. Water in the shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water. The location is very private and peaceful. Latin quarters is not too far. Maybe about 12 minutes away and there are tons of restaurants, nightlife and pubs to visit. We rented a car so we drove everywhere. Street Parking is not always available but there are parking lots everywhere. The Airbnb is far enough to give you a quiet stay with all the nightlife not too far from you. Plenty of supermarkets around the area for groceries. This is definitely a gem and I would come back and stay again. Highly recommended.”

“We absolutely loved our stay! It was a gorgeous place and a really lovely garden. We did get a little lost trying to find it but that was 100% our fault and the directions they sent were a lifesaver! They also were very sweet and provided some recommendations for the area as well as great instructions on how everything worked in the house which was very helpful. It was also really lovely that they gave us some food to make breakfast with for the next day. Truly one of our favorite places we stayed in all of Ireland and would definitely recommend!!”

“Mary's place was so beautiful and tranquil it exceeded all my expectations. If I ever return to Ireland I would want to stay there again. Her husband was so gracious when we arrived and explained where everything was. We didn't have a car so he offered to drive us to get some groceries however we decided to walk and found a grocery store about 15 minutes away. it was a pleasant walk and we got to see the neighbourhood. it was a joy to stay there and I would highly recommend it.”

“The pictures don't do this place justice! What a beautiful private addition to the host's home. Check in was easy after a long drive from Dublin. The space is a private entrance from the home, which is situated in a beautiful property with a beautiful garden and greenery. The house although private and tranquil is only a 5 minute drive to the heart of Galway where we spent a couple of nights dining and drinking. Cabs/Ubers were easy to come by for nights out.
The space we stayed in was an architectural gem - lots of unique features but modern & clean. There's a full kitchen, dining area, large living area, private bedroom and large bathroom with a washer/dryer. There were lots of amentiries and toiletries. We loved bird watching in the mornings and gazing at the stars at night.
If we're lucky enough to ever come back to the Galway area we'll definitely look to stay here again!”
“This space was a very nice place to stay. Washer/Dryer, large dishwasher all inside the place. The garden was a nice retreat outside with many different birds visiting the property. Owners live right next door so any issues (which we had none) and they would be right there to solve. Place is an easy drive into Galway. There is a bus that goes into town, but we did not partake. The location is very private from the main road even with the driveway leading directly out to the main road. If our future journey's take us back to Galway, we will definitely keep this place in mind to stay again.”

“Perfect, wished we stayed longer. The home was stocked well and the hosts were very friendly. Jarlath left us the fixings to make our own Irish breakfast which was a lifesaver after traveling. The home is just a few minutes from the grocery store and in a perfect spot. Felt safe and the area was so peaceful. My 6 and 9 yo girls loved the treehouse and the large windows. We loved bird watching every morning. Beds were comfortable and the linens were spotless. Home was very warm too which felt wonderful in the cold rainy weather. Overall this was a wonderful experience! Would definitely return.”
“We really enjoyed our stay here! The home is beautiful and the yard/landscape are very tranquil. The hosts were very kind and flexible with giving us the option to stay an extra day if needed after we had rental car trouble. Very clean, well-kept, and kitchen had everything we needed. The hosts checked in on us regularly and made sure we had what we needed. The only complaint is we did not have hot water when it got later into the evening, and the hot water did not come back on until the next morning. But other than that, we'd highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again if we are ever in Galway in the future!”

All amenities within the unit were top-notch and spotlessly clean with VERY soft and comfy linens. Mary and her husband were so lovely, and incredibly kind, and they left us quite a lot of food and sundries so we felt right at home. They also left us some wine, which was greatly appreciated! Plenty of space in each room for these. The cleanliness of the property was second to none, absolutely spotless. Lovely and spacious for our group even with all the luggage you need for two babies! The gardens are so well maintained - beautiful! My son had an absolute ball exploring! Bbq available to use which we availed of each evening since babies were with us. “I don't know where to begin - amazing experience! No wonder Mary and Jarlath are super hosts, they really have thought of everything. From the friendly greeting on arrival and very informative tour, the lovely welcome touches like bread and milk, breakfast ingredients, two bottles of wine (😃) to the wonderful location and beautiful, spotlessly clean accommodation with literally EVERYTHING you need. Our grandson loved all the toys and books (and treehouse and swing in the garden) and we loved the fancy-dan kitchen, showroom-style bathroom, super comfy beds with crisp sheets and cosy duvets, TV with satellite and digital channels galore and lightning fast Wi-Fi. Location is good, too, quiet neighbourhood but only a short drive from all the shops you'll ever need. Don't hesitate to book, you won't be disappointed.”

“Mary's cottge is lovely. Close enough to Galway but far enough out of the city to feel like you're having a good break. The cottage is beautiful, sparkling clean surrounded by lush gardens - even better than in the pictures. The hosts are super accomodating, friendly and helpful. Everything you need and so much more. If you're heading up the west coast, and looking for a base for your adventure, definitley stay here.”
