AI summary of 105 Airbnb guest reviews

Guests consistently describe a peaceful, well-maintained glamping property with cozy, clean cabins and a spotless shared bathhouse that several reviewers call a highlight. Many are repeat visitors who praise the thoughtful amenities, well-marked on-site hiking trails, and the privacy between sites. The close proximity to state parks, Deep Creek Lake, and downtown Oakland is frequently noted as a plus. One recurring caveat is that the propane heaters run out quickly in cold weather, so guests recommend bringing extra fuel.

“Had a great glamping stay in Oakland even in the rain! The cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a two nights stay. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. The bathhouse/pavilion area were in great shape and well stocked with necessities and games for use! Would highly suggest group rental of the entire camp for family and friends!”

“We had a great time, the cabin was a great place to call home base for a few nights. The trails on property were well maintained and the perfect place to walk with dogs, there were clear markings and plenty of maps of surrounding state park trails if you want to venture further. The common area has very nice bathrooms and plenty of activities. You're close enough to Oakland that you can run out and get supplies or grab dinner and coffee (Brenda's was great for both!). Would definitely stay again!
Would definitely recommend bringing your own lighter or matches to make camp stove/candle lighting a bit easier, it could've been user error, but the ones provided seemed brittle.”

“I recently had the pleasure of staying at Wild Yough Glamping with a group of friends in Oakland, MD, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience!
The bathroom was always spotless, which is very important to me. It had all the necessary amenities, including a shower, sink, and toilet. I never had to worry about any cleanliness concerns.
The cabins were primitive but still comfortable and well thought out. I was impressed with how equipped they were with everything you needed.
The location was also a major highlight of Wild Yough Glamping. It was situated close to many attractions and stores, making it easy to explore the area. We visited Swallow Falls State Park, which was only a short drive away, and we also enjoyed exploring the quaint town of Oakland.
Overall, I highly recommend Wild Yough Glamping to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable glamping experience. I can't wait to return for another stay!”

“My husband and I reserved one of the Glamping huts for a mini-vacation before our summer schedules get crazy. When we arrived on the property it exceeded our expectations! There are only a few cabins on the property, so it never felt crowded or busy, there was only one other family there at the same time so our experience was very private and intimate. There are beautiful trails on-site and there was a packet in our room that gave us a map and lots of recommendations for sights to see while hiking on or off property. The kitchen had everything we need to make any camp-friendly meal, and the common area was stocked with games, yoga mats, a mini fridge, you name it! We were so comfortable in our cabin and especially appreciated the porch, hammock and fire pit. We will absolutely be coming back!”

“My girlfriend and I had an amazing time. The camp itself was beautiful. Far enough away from other campers to enjoy your privacy. The community pavilion and shower was outstanding. Showers, power for electronics, games, tables and trails to be had! National parks close by, not to mention the beautiful scenery on the drive. So glad we found this cozy and amazing glamping spot!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“This was a great stay, we found the place to be exactly as described. We were also excited to find extra kindling for the fire, bug repellant candles, and plenty of candles for inside the cabin. The big light that you charge up at the camp came in clutch but we did bring one extra lantern. Bathrooms were very clean at the camp. We cooked at our site so can’t speak to the grill down there.
There is plenty to do on the property and our dogs absolutely loved the trail that took us to the river. Cell service is spotty with Verizon. You can see your neighbors but there was plenty of room for the dogs to roam and not be in their way.”

“A great alternative to sleeping in a tent and lugging a bunch of stuff out to the woods. The cabin and pavilion/bathhouse have everything needed. Just bring a set of sheets and food- that’s it! The miles of hiking trails that loop through the property are in amazing condition and well marked. Our dogs loved being able to walk right from our front door. “Enjoyed two nights here. Peaceful, safe, relaxing. The property is beautiful, and the state parks are nearby. Kayaking at Herrington Manor, hiking between Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls, and exploring the Wild Yough property kept me busy. Check out the Rock Garden trail at sunset. Find your way down to the Yough and enjoy the winding wooded paths in between. A bird-lover's heaven is here. And if you are into games and hanging out, the pavilion offers lots of options. The cabin is very dark even during the day, but rechargeable LED lights are in there, and can be plugged in and swapped at the Pavilion for fresh ones. There are various phone charging cables there if you need them. I'm hoping to return!”

“Super cute way to glamp! We stayed in uzes and it is def the best cabin. It’s got the biggest common area outside near the firepit and it’s own parking space that you can back right up to the cabin. The cabin is def small but you won’t be spending any time inside so it’s perfect for sleeping and storing stuff. The property is gorgeous with hiking trails (our favorite was the one to the river) the river is super shallow and calm and perfect for kids. The common area/bath house is very very nice with running water sinks to wash dishes, flush toilets and sinks in the bathrooms (separate women’s and men’s room with multiple showers and toilets). Super clean and never smelly . Super hot eater in the shower. A common area with games and rocking chairs and darts. Overall the best glamping experience we have ever had. Oh and lots of privacy! Rarely saw the other glampers...especially since uzes does feel the most private being that it is up on a hill away from the driveway and again with ample space for hanging out. Also the cabin is fully equipped with lanterns and cookware and utensils and extra bedding etc. highly recommend for families with kids (ours are 8 and 11 and they loved it!)”

“This is a hidden gem! The property is absolutely amazing with tons of hiking and river access for fishing and lounging by the river! The huts are so adorable and well thought out! Each has its own unique touches and you can tell the owners have put a lot of time and effort into thinking about everything you may need! If you forget something at home there is a good chance it is there! The bathhouse accommodations are some of the nicest I’ve ever seen at a campground! The pavilion is a great place to hang out with tons of yard games, would be an excellent place for a larger group gathering like a family reunion! “This was my first glamping experience; as an (older) woman alone, it was very nice to have a secure and clean and very well managed environment. My hat is off to the folks (Bob, Mike, and Stacy) at Offlake Rentals, who were very welcoming and responsive. The Uzes cabin and the Wild Yough campgrounds were just as advertised, perhaps even better than I expected--very clean and wonderfully furnished (both the cabin and the bathhouse) with amenities (paper goods, soaps, propane, lights, a heater, and lots of blankets and, best of all for the chilly five nights, hot water bottles!). I especially appreciated the very prompt response to my requests to get the propane heater started, and for the propane fairy for dropping off an extra bottle!
I loved walking on the paths, hearing the coyotes and birds, drawing the (many!) wild mushrooms, and visiting Oakland for its Autumn Glory events. Very happy the bear didn't show up, too.”

“We had an fabulous experience glamping at Wild Yough! Though we are seasoned tent campers we were looking for something easy for this short trip. The Uzes cozy hut was perfect. Every single thing listed on the website was there. You really do only need sheets & towels. However, we were happy to have our lanterns for some extra light and we brought a spare bottle of propane just in case. The bath house was cleaner than the bathroom in the restaurant I ate at last night.
The equipment provided is of high quality and the extra touches (welcome bag with peanuts and fire starters, herb garden, body wash in the showers, etc.) were a delightful surprise. We met the caretaker our first morning and were lamenting to him how the wood we purchased was not dry enough. He gave us several locations to get good wood. However, on our return from our outing to Deep Creak State Park, we found the wood fairy had visited us and left us a box of dry wood! Another delightful surprise which lead to a fabulous evening around the campfire in the excellent camp chairs provided. Clearly, the crew at Wild Yough Glamping are dedicated to creating a good experience and they succeed.”

“I have always loved tent camping but this glamping experience was truly phenomenal. The cabins were clean, creatively decorated and designed, and included all essentials. All of this was provided without compromising a camping experience of cooking over the fire and being secluded in the woods with nature.
There are great walking trails on the property with lots of wildlife. This property is surrounded by many state parks that offer additional hiking and water activities. My 3 year old son and dog loved it too!”

Even though it is suggested that they have lighting, we did not find lanterns or working lights for our stays. You will want to bring your own dishes and provisions. The space heater only works for a couple of hours, so you will want to bring an extra set of blankets for cold nights. Also, they only give you a small amount of gas for the heater...this only lasts a few hours. This place has potential, but it needs some work.”

“This was our second year in a row staying at the Uzes hut at Wild Yough. What an amazing getaway for us and our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Charlie. It is so quiet and peaceful and central to two state parks that are great for sight seeing and hiking. The hut and bathhouse were clean and comfortable as they were before and there were even a few logs under the picnic table to keep our fire going on Saturday night. Dan and Offlake Rentals were easy to contact and very helpful through the reservation process. Highly recommend!”

“My daughters and I had a wonderful weekend at Uzes. We hiked, relaxed, had campfires, and made delicious food in our cozy hut. The bathhouse is clean, bright, and well stocked and the common area is full of comfortable seating and has a great assortment of games and books. We spent time exploring Swallow Falls State Park and enjoyed seeing the birds of prey at the Deep Creek State Park Aviary. Another highlight was a trip to the Deep Creek Lavender Farm.
We were surprised that the hut was without electricity and had to make a trip to the ACE Hardware in Oakland to stock up on propane for the heater because it was a chilly weekend, and also batteries, candles, and flashlights because the hut is surrounded by trees which block the sunlight coming through the windows.”

“We had a nice time. Cabin is close to several state parks, Deep Creek Lake, and Wal-Mart super store. Surrounding were beautiful. Camp was clean and shower water was hot. They provide propane for cooking and heating but we ran out during out 4 day stay. It's very dark in the cabin at night so you need a bright flashlight.”

“My husband and I (and our dog) loved our weekend glamping at Dan's place! The location felt secluded without being too far off the main routes. The huts are well equipped and cozy - especially great during a stormy night! The bath house was clean and really well equipped and thought out (I particularly appreciated the hair dryer!) The area is fantastic with lots of great hikes and our dog loved being able to explore around the campsite. We are already looking at when we can return!”

“If you enjoy simplicity and nature and want to disconnect and relax in a very well maintained, clean and inviting place and you are trying to avoid a crowded campsite, this is the place for you.
The cabin was clean, and very well furnished, bed was comfortable and kitchen has everything you need. We were glad to have a heater during an unseasonably cold summer night. Bath house was spotless and modern without sacrificing the rustic look. Walmart and State Parks are just a short drive away.
We lost our key on Satuday afternoon and called Off Lake Rentals after hours emergency number. They were very helpful and took care of it in a very reasonable amount of time, soon enough that the whole inconvenient didn't mess up our plans for the day.
Definitely coming back !”

“Hands down the best trip to deep creek. Private area, close enough to everything. Communication was great, which was great I had questions through my stay and they were answered quicker then what I thought. The cabin was very clean, they had alot more then what I thought. It was just amazing. The grill at our glampsite was perfect. I can't think of a bad thing to say.”

“If you're looking for a nice quite getaway, this would be the place to stay. I have never had the want to go camping but after this experience, I will definitely be coming back. Just bring linens and everything else is provided, exactly as stated in the description. Make sure you follow the written directions because the GPS will not pick up the location. Enjoy!”

“We had a great stay at the glamping huts! The cabin was so cute and we loved the porch, chairs, and fire pit. The facilities were also so much nicer than expected. Our first night there we had a bag of marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate delivered to our doorstep, which was such a nice treat. We were in town for a family reunion, I regret we didn't get much time to spend exploring the property. Highly recommend!”

“Dan's glamping huts and secluded property were an absolute joy to visit for a long anniversary weekend. We had the most incredible time detaching from the busy world and enjoying the simplicity of camping while also having some extra comforts. The surrounding national parks were wonderful to visit, but it was so nice being able to roam free around the property's paths right from our hut. We brought our pup and she had such a blast.
Our one disappointment was that Swallow Falls State Park does not allow pets during the busy season - but we ended up hiking around and swimming at Herrington Manor State Park instead, which was beautiful!
Please keep in mind that there is NO electricity in the huts (although the bathhouse is equipped with outlets and lights, which is super nice). Some lanterns/candles are provided, although it's not enough to see much, even during the day. We wish we had brought our headlamps and camping lantern and will definitely be more mindful when packing next time.
We will absolutely be back in the future - hopefully with some friends and family!”

“This place was just as described! Fantastic getaway from the hustle and bustle of Baltimore. Great for people who love to camp but don't want to fiddle with a tent. Close enough to Oakland for forgotten necessities. My wife and I had a great time and will be back soon!”

“The glamping huts are a perfect compromise for my husband, who enjoys the true camping experience, and myself, who needs some amenities. The hut was cozy and included dishes, a propane stove, lights, and a heater. The clubhouse bathrooms and showers were clean and private, with only a few huts in the grounds. There was also alot of games, like darts corn hole, chess, and more. The hosts also provided a lot of information with things to do and sights in the area. There few a few walking trails on the grounds and we were a short drive from swallow falls park and a quick drive to the lake.”

“We loved our stay at Uzes. The location is gorgeous, and the amenities were as described or better. Parking spot right in front of your glamping hut, very short walk to the bathroom (where there is hot water and electricity, plus you can charge your phone). We did a lovely little secluded hike in the surrounding area, and had a convenient drive to the location of the Savageman 70.0 triathlon race. Hut was adorable, clean, and just as described. Bring your own towels, sheets, and flashlights/headlamps for inside the hut and walking to the bathrooms. Dan was responsive and friendly, and we had a great stay!”

“My husband and I came up to Deep Creek for his birthday. We brought our 120 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback and all three of us had a wonderful and relaxing time! Dan is great and really makes communication personal. The cabins are nicely spaced and private. Gorgeous weather! Absolutely spotless inside cabin and in bath house as well. A ton of thought clearly went into the amenities of this place. You need to come here! We cannot wait to go back!”

“The cabins, bathhouse and surroundings were very inviting, clean and well-maintained. My husband and I really enjoyed exploring the adjacent trails that wonder down to the Youghiogheny River as well as visiting the nearby State Parks and the little town of Oakland. As others have noted, you can hear a bit of road traffic but it's not intrusive. We had lazy mornings with our coffee on the porch, taking in the peaceful, lovely setting before heading out to explore the area. Just remember to bring sheets, towels, and bathing suits for swimming at the State Parks. Highly recommend staying here and we hope to return.”

“Great place for camping without forsaking all the amenities!
Beautiful area in Maryland close to state parks and the local falls. The cabins are completely furnished and stocked with everything you need, just bring your own food. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, and only a handful of other sites on the property to share with (cabins are also fairly broadly spaced so as to not feel claustrophobic). There are also some paths and trails to get a bit more into nature if you'd like, we even saw a couple of black bear lumbering off down a hill on one of our walks. Bottom line, our family absolutely loved the place, and we are definitely looking forward to a return trip.”

“Many thanks to Dan for a one-of-a-kind glamping experience in beautiful Oakland, MD. The hut was adorable and adequately furnished, on peaceful, picturesque grounds. Perfect bathhouse with hot showers (!!!), and plenty of space for building campfires and roasting marshmallows. Despite chilly nights, our family had a lovely time and now have new Autumn Glory Memories. Dan was friendly, responsive and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!”

“We had a great experience glamping in the Uzes cabin! It was a cold and rainy weekend, but we still had a lovely honeymoon. The cabin was exactly what we wanted - simple, clean, and surrounded by beautiful nature and trails. I was especially impressed with how clean not only Uzes was, but the community bathhouse was as well. The only problem we had was darkness; the provided LED lantern did not provide much light at all. When we come back, we'll definitely bring a few of our own light sources.

Thanks for a great honeymoon, Dan! We will be back!”

“We had an absolutely amazing time glamping! For first time campers, this experience was perfect. The huts are secluded far enough in the woods away from civilization, and they provide everything that you can possibly need from a fire pit to all the cooking essentials. essential. It was a perfect weekend getaway for my best friend and I, and was only a short few minute drive from wal Mart.
Although we didn't get a chance to hike any of the trails due to bad weather (rain) we still enjoyed staying in the huts (which are beautifully made) and enjoying each other's company with a cup of tea!
An awesome experience all together. We 100% plan on going back, and it would recommend to anyone, from first time campers to those who just like to get away from it all and not have to worry about pitching a tent, etc. (and ps- if you have verizon, there is no service in the town of oakton. There is minimal if not none at the camps... But McDonalds has free wifi!)”

“This was one of my first camping experiences. As a beginner in all things camping this experience could not have been any better. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The House itself had everything I could think of and even things I didn't. The area was quite and off of the beaten path. Also away from the tourist trap of Deep Creek lake but not far enough to stop me from going (which is what I wanted!!) Close to 2 state parks which have everything I could want in a state park. Overall this has been one of the best experiences that I have had. And I want to thank everyone who was involved with it.”

“If you want the experience of camping, but don't want to sleep in a tent, this is the place for you. Dan was quick and courteous in his emails. The campground is not super-secluded since you're about a 10-minute drive to McDonalds or Wal-Mart, but once you're there it's very quiet and peaceful. The bathroom and shower facilities are clean and modern. The camp is super dog friendly and just about all the other campers had their pooches with them. All in all I had a great time.”
