“This was a perfect glamping spot. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay even during the heavy rain. The pavilion was a savior. Dan and Beth stocked it really well to keep us all entertained. The fireplace was a huge bonus. And the bathrooms were clean. The trails are really well marked and maintained. Even though we were so close to the state parks, we felt like we were camping in one and enjoyed the trails on the property. Highly recommend this place !!! We are definitely going back again.”

“We came into town for a wedding at The White Barn which was about a 15 minute drive. We loved the property and walked about 4 miles of trails and did some fishing and saw a LOT of deer. The cabin was perfect for my husband and I to unwind and realx- our cell service ( verizon) was a bit spotty but we were totally ok with unplugging a bit. The cabin had everything we needed and the bathouse was spotless! Thank you for making it such an enjoyable stay for us!!

“We enjoyed our glamping stay. The cabin was "off the grid" but equipped with everything one would need, and actually the photos only suggested the level of hominess and comfort provided. Dan & Beth provided clear directions/instructions/local information to make our stay relaxing and fun”

“I have been here twice now. Once with a friend and now with a couple families. It’s great for both! The private property with hiking trails & river access for swimming, bath house, pavilion, lawn for games, hammocks, lovely huts for sleeping and relaxing, fire rings, etc. are all just amazing! It’s a very cozy and spacious property!
And the location is fantastic for off-site adventures too: Swallow Falls and Herrington Manor are just down the street.
Dan is super helpful with communicating about questions.
Highly recommended!”

“We enjoyed our stay! The huts had everything we needed to cook our meals with. You only need to bring your linens/sleeping bags, clothes and food. The restrooms/showers were very clean. The huts were private, but still close enough to walk to our friend's cabin next to us. We enjoyed the many hiking trails as well as Swallow Falls State Park nearby and the Snaggy Mountain Rock Maze.”

“Fourth time at Wild Yough...and it just keeps getting better. Awesome location, the cabins, especially Stanley have everything you need to have the comforts of glamping wile having easy access to the best Garrett county has to offer. The little extras - the recharging stations, the endless array of games, the goodie bag - all demonstrate the thoughtfulness and generosity of the owners. We will most definitely return.”

“A terrific property and hidden gem close to Herrington and Swallow Falls State Parks, not far from downtown Oakland and a short drive to McHenry. The cabin was charming and included everything needed, and then some, including some homemade fire starters, camp chairs, and extra bedding. The trails on property are well maintained and the bathhouse is perhaps the cleanest I have ever seen, and included a very convenient charging station (though don’t expect WiFi or reliable cell service…it’s an “unplug” kinda spot). We enjoyed playing darts and cornhole, reading and relaxing in the oversized hammock, rocking in the rocking chairs while watching the grazing deer, cooking up dinner on the propane grill in the common pavilion area, and hiking to the nearby falls. Would highly recommend staying at any of the cabins, all seemed uniquely charming; we will certainly be back!”

“Beautiful campground with a nice pavilion/bathhouse that was very clean and well stocked (charging station, wood, maps, games/cornhole, hair dryer & toiletries in bathhouse, 2 dish washing stations). The Stanley hut was adorable and stocked with everything you need for a camping experience, with many personal touches. Hiked 2 trails...the Red (River) & Rock Garden trails. Both were easy to moderate and well maintained. The view at Otter Point overlooking the river is a must see! Overall, my stay far exceeded expectations and I'll be back for sure...thanks Dan & Beth!”

“Our stay at the Stanley hut was better then we had expected! We are a family of tent campers but wanted to switch it up and stay in a cabin. Dan and Beth provided everything we could have ever needed. Dont want to stress about bringing everything you usually need to go camping? Look no further because they provide it all. From utensils, cups, dishes, and a propane cook top, to a picnic table, fire ring with cooking rack PLUS a wonderful pavilion with a bath house and showers. We loved staying and will definitely be back if we ever get to the area again. All the cabins were filled during our stay so it was so wonderful to meet new people and hang out under the pavilion. It rained a lot during our stay but we felt so lucky to have the pavilion to go to to hang out as well as a cabin over our heads instead of a tent! The pavilion is filled with lots of activities for children and adults! There is even a grill to cook on! We even got to use the bell tent right by the Stanley hut which was a cute added bonus! If your someone who usually goes tent camping but dont want to lug everything you usually need, this is the place to go! Outstanding hospitality at a great rate!”

“Highly recommended! I took my 8 year old son and 4 year old daughter here completely on a whim and with very little planning. Booked it the night before and we were off in the morning. Dan was great at communicating and getting everything ready on such short notice. The property is amazing and there are a lot of thoughtful touches, so you just have to bring food, towels, and bedsheets, which is explained in the listing. There are a handful of peaceful and private trails on-site, one of which leads to a river which we all enjoyed to cool off in. Thank you so much and we can't wait to come back for another adventure!”

“This is an amazing place! It is right near Harrington Manor Park and also near Swallow Falls which is beautiful any time of year. The cabins are adorable and our kiddos had so much fun. The hosts are quick to respond to any messages. The bath house is very nice and clean. The cabin was fairly clean but could have been cleaner given that it is such a small amount of square footage. We stayed in Stanley and had plenty of privacy yet it was a short walk to the common area and bathrooms. There are some battery powered “candles” in the cabin and tent which is nice but bring some more lighting. If it’s a cold night there is a propane heater attached to the wall by the bed and the hosts provide a few small tanks for cooking and heating. We did heat water over the fire and fill the water bottles and that helped us stay warmer;-). We will definitely come back.”

We were pleasantly surprised with all the additional touches: games, hammocks, fire starters, dog treats, etc. Close to Swallow Falls and Herrington Manor state parks plus other hiking trails. “An affordable, well-situated spot to visit the Oakland, MD area, close to town and a number of state parks. Unfortunately for us, there had just been a long rainy spell, so a lot of the campgrounds were marshy and even flooded in some places. Firewood on sale was not under cover and soaked through. The facilities are showing their age, and could use some maintenance and updating - e.g. clearing some overgrowth from the trails, clearer signage, newer bedding, etc. All in all, a decent but no-frills option.”

“Loved how secluded the cabin was and it was extremely thoughtful that a bag of s’mores supplies and fire starters were left for us. I’ve never been camping before so this was a good starting point for me. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed it and although there’s no electricity, there are many candles and flashlights that give off enough light. The bathrooms in the pavilion are a mere 100 feet from the cabin and spotless. I’m a bit of a germaphobe so we did bring our own blankets and pillows, etc. however, all of that is provided so you don’t need to. Great hospitality and highly recommended if you’re looking for a very secluded getaway.”

“This is our second stay at Stanley and we had just as much fun as the last time! Even with the constant rainy weather we stayed entertained in the pavilion and neighboring state parks. The only disappointment was the tipi, which has seen much wear and tear since last year. Sparkling clean, thoughtful touches (one of the workers dropped off fire starters since the rain was so bad) and lots of nature! Its a great way to start off the summer!”

“First off, this is an amazing place. I am a single mom of two kids and we are constantly on the go. I was looking for a place at a reasonable cost that would allow us to slow down and reconnect. This place really delivers!
The amenities were very detailed and personal. My hut was stocked with every needed tool for a campfire cookout. The pavilion had games and activities for my kids. There were lounge chairs for relaxing and a hammock, too! And the bathroom! The bathrooms were very clean with nice showers. With everything that this place offers, I could have left half of what I packed at home and still had more than we needed.
We went swimming at Herrington Manor State Park, which was so close we could have walked there. We hiked the beautiful and quirky trails around the property. It was an amazing weekend.”

“We had a great time at Dan and Beth's place! The Hut was perfect with everything we would need for a 3 day stay. We brought a cooler with ice for our food because there is no fridge. The bathhouse and common area were clean and stocked with all the necessities. The bathrooms were amazingly clean for being out in the middle of the woods and the showers had hot water which was so great for the cold weather we had! We didn't luck out with the weather for our stay; it was raining and cold pretty much the entire weekend but we brought some board games and the common area is stocked with board games, card games, darts, and a lot more to keep you entertained. There's a gas grill there that we used 2 nights in a row to cook salmon and steak which was wonderful! We were provided with fire wood and propane for the heater and stove in the cabin, and after 2 cold nights, there was more waiting for us in the common area, which was so nice. We were lucky enough to have Dan and Beth at the campsite for the weekend with us and they were very hospitable but we still had plenty of privacy. It was a wonderful time and we hope to come back for better weather to explore more!”

“Very nice stay at the Offlake- glamping huts. Roughly a 15 minute drive to Deep Creek but surrounded by several other state parks to swim, hike, bike, and explore. The hut had essentially everything we needed for a short stay, including: a close bathing area, utensils for cooking & eating, lanterns/battery operated lighting, comfortable sleeping options, etc.”

“We throughly enjoyed the time that we spent at Wild Youth. We went with our kids, ages 8/10, and had a blast. The location can't be beat, we went to Herrington Manor State Park (swimming on a beach!) and Swallow Falls (wading, catching newts) we right down the road. We also checked out Oakland where we saw the BnO and had lunch at an old fashioned soda fountain.
The place was amazing. We were spoiled and were the only people there! The kids slept in a tipi and had so much fun around the campfire making smores. We saw many animals including turkey, snails, and chipmunks. They loved playing with the bocce balls and the rest of the toys they had out.
The showers were super clean and nice. The cabin was great. I can't wait to go back again”

“This was the best mini vacation ever! Our group of three + one dog loved this. Talked about it the whole month leading up to it and now will be talking about it months after! Such an awesome idea having a compound of small bare minimum huts and a pavilion with EVERYTHING you need. Plus the location is great, we are not from around this area but found and visited a local lake listed on a map within Wild Yough. Owners really care about their land, huts, trails and wildlife, and it all gives you such an inspiring look into their lives and their journey creating these huts! We will most definitely be back!!”

“My father, brother and I had a great experience glamping here at Stanley cabin. The cabin and group area were well furnished, comfortable, and clean, with everything you would need to cook with and clean up. Right next to Herrington Manor State Park, and within 15 min drive of Swallow Falls and Deep Creek Lake. The cabins are quiet and secluded, surrounded by woods but with a nice open space for stargazing and campfires. Definitely plan on coming back sometime.”

“The place was very clean and tidy. Had guests the first night but they left in the morning and we had the entire place to ourselves. My girlfriend is not an outdoor person and for her to be in love with it and wanting to come back all the time is a big deal.”

“This glamping hut was fabulous! My friend and I had a great time and were pleasantly surprised by the large interior of the hut and the plentiful amenities inside. The bathrooms seemed to be brand new and were also stocked with many amenities (like hooks to hang towels and clothing, a hair dryer, soap, plenty of paper towels and toilet paper, etc.) and were very clean. We were only sorry we didn't get to spend more time here.”

“Dan was in contact with me as soon as I reserved the space online and was very helpful with everything. The glamping hut was amazing and was picturesque. We had a great time and it was the perfect getaway. We stayed for the weekend and attended a friends wedding that Saturday. The bathrooms were very clean and I was able to get ready for the wedding with ease. I'm so glad that I found this gem of a place.”

“This isn't our 4th trip in 11 months for no reason. Can't say enough about Wild Yough or Stanley.
Let's start something - let's put our pictures on Instagram with the hashtag "Wild Yough". There are already 3!”

“We had a wonderful stay at the Stanley cabin! Fresh mountain air, peace and quiet, and lots of privacy (we were the only people there on our 2nd night). Bath house is really clean and a short stroll away. Trails are nice although we were not able to actually get to the river because other people were on the verrrry small river-access point.”

“Third time's a charm! This time my husband and I brought our friend and her 9 year old daughter. The weather was perfect! I recommend coming in July or August when the days are warm and breezy and the nights are cool. The gracious hosts (Dan and Beth) offered us use of the tipi and the caretaker gave the 9 year old a s'mores kit. He is great. He also gave us some tips on how the locals do things. I can never say enough about Wild Yough and Stanley has a special place in our hearts.”

“We planned a three day Forth of July camping weekend trip with family (four of us with visitors coming in during the day for picnics) at the Stanley Glamping site. The faculty had all the things you could need (grill, coffee maker, cups...). We were so impressed. Beautiful trails to hike, great location and surprisingly wonderful bathrooms (very clean, private, and spacious). We will be making this trip an annually.”

“We had such a wonderful stay glamping at stanely this weekend with the pups. The cabin was wonderful. You can tell great care has been put into every detail. As if the owners have stayed in each one. Sometimes you go to a cabin and it missing an important shelf, hook or even curtains! This was not the case here. Also the kitchen had everything we needed and a good layout. We cooked breakfast and dinner each night. The social area and bathrooms were very nice and clean. There was a cold front this weekend but the heater and blankets provided served us well. Btw each propane container lasts 3-4 hours on low. The hiking in the area is amazing with three state parks around the corner. We hope to return with family and friends soon. Thank you again!!”

“We had a wonderful weekend staying here! The hut was cozy and the bathhouse facilities were very clean. There were nice walking trails on the property and we even made it to the little town of Oakland for their Autumn Glory Festival. The foliage was gorgeous and we had a very relaxing, peaceful time.”

“My husband and I had such a great weekend at Stanley! Dan was very responsive and the hut had everything you need. The bathhouse is much nicer than it appears in pictures. In fact, the nicest I've seen. There was no access to the water since the unmarked trail down to the water was so grown over and it was super swampy at the water end of the trail anyway. That did not damper our stay. We've been to Oakland from the Baltimore area quite a few times. The reviews that mention road noise had me wondering. But, unless you are from a tiny farm town, I can't imagine the road "noise" bothering you. It was wonderfully peaceful compared to Baltimore county. A few things if this is your first trip to Oakland: do yourself a favor and stop at Firefly Cheese on Main St in Accident, MD on your way in. Trust me. There is a farmers market every Wed and Sat in downtown Oakland June-Oct. Google it and go if it's open. There's so. much. more than veggies, although there is plenty of them, too. Swallow Falls State Park is wonderful. Bring your camera and relax. It's perfect. Finally, and I hesitate to tell about my treasure... Check out the BEST Mexican place, El Canelo. It is also in downtown Oakland (about 7 minutes from Wild Yough). It looks like a crappy restaurant attached to a seedy motel but, believe me, it's an amazing restaurant attached to a seedy motel. We go every time we're in Oakland. In fact, we made sure it was still open before we booked our trip! All in all, Wild Yough is a great place in a great place. Go, relax and have fun!”

“The glamp was cozy, clean and exactly as described. We seemed to be the only people staying on the grounds and had lots of privacy, though it did feel a little weird being the only people there. Great star gazing. Watch out for poison ivy on the hiking trails.”

“The accommodations were simple but really nice. Right in the middle of so many state parks and we did a lot of great hiking in the morning. Definitely recommended for those who want to camp out but don't want to stay in a tent.”

“My husband and I arrived to a very clean and peaceful glamping experience. It was reassuring to see the site had everything we needed and more. We took time to walk the trails, and explore the area. Dan was very responsive and accommodating to our request. We also met a man who works for the property management company who was just wonderful. We would definitely go back again!”

“Dan was very helpful with getting my trip set up perfectly for me. He gave me some good tips for photography in the area and always was quick to answer my questions. The cabin was nice and just as described, very peaceful and quiet but still within a couple miles of grocery stores. A great getaway spot.”
