AI summary of 150 Airbnb guest reviews

Guests consistently praise the location as walkable to downtown Salem, with a coffee shop steps away and convenient T access for day trips to Boston. The house is frequently described as clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a large private backyard and fire pit that families and dog owners appreciate. “My family and I stayed at Annick’s house for a birthday trip to Salem in August and had a great time. The location is within walking distance of downtown Salem. Wonderful coffee shop and convenience stores within walking distance too for quick snacks. Annick was very responsive and communicated with us all weekend which was amazing. Overall, highly recommend this house. In Salem, outdoor space is a luxury, and this place has lots of it!”

“Awesome location.
Great place to relax with the family and beautiful community. I look forward to returning. Im a lil simple and really enjoyed how peaceful early mornings were with the coffee supplied.
Outside of that, and for anyone interested in boston or salem... The T takes you right to north boston station from this Airbnb and gets you where you need to be fast.
Ill admit, I was skeptical but its a legit wonderful place and ill say it was a great experience.
For the owners "Annick". Great place you have and look forward to rent your place again in the future.”

“We had a great stay at Annick’s house-she was so welcoming and helpful, great communication. So many good things to share: House was spotless-so clean, well appointed and spacious. A/C kept the house cool even with the heat wave. Beautiful backyard with fire pit made for nice nights outside. Short walk to Salem center of town & all the wonderful sights/restaurants. A great coffee shop 1 block from the house and a sweet park and playground just a few blocks away looking out at the water. Highly recommend!!”

“Me and my family had a fantastic stay at Annicks place in Salem for the World Cup.
I can’t speak highly enough of Annick as a host and the surrounding neighbours, they all made us feel very welcome during our time in the States ❤️
The house is great, really nice and spacious with a fantastic garden and porch also which was great to get some sun :)
The house is located a 1min walk from a a few shops so you can get all the essentials there and there’s also a few cafes and restaurants really close too.
It’s about a ~8min walk to the train station and then a 25-30min train to Boston from there.
And it’s about 10mins into Salem where there’s lots of great pubs/restaurants.
We all had an amazing time and genuinely can’t thank Annick and her neighbours enough. Lovely lovely people

“I thought the place was very nice. It was clean and easy to find. The directions were clear and it was in a great location. The reason for the four stars is that since it is an older house one of the bedrooms didn’t have any outlets to plug in. It also would have been nice if the fridge had some water since there was no water dispenser. The beds were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were nice and clean too. The shower upstairs is small but the one downstairs was perfect.”

“Annick and Sam were very friendly and they were excellent hosts. The place was very clean and there was plenty of space. They were very generous to us, with a late check out.
Dot and Rays Diner was within walking distance and it was amazing.
We took the T to a concert at TD Garden and explored Salem on another day. The house is in a great location to do a lot of exploring.
We will definitely stay here again.
Thank you!”

“It was a great place for our weekend. Close enough to downtown Salem to walk but far enough from the crowds. The house was nice and felt comfy and cozy. The yard was big, though we didn’t spend any time out there. The neighborhood was nice too. All the homes were quaint.

“Great house and very clean. The age of the home was evident in a charming way (no electrical outlets in the third bedroom meant our teenagers came downstairs to hang out with us when their phones need a charge 😂). We really enjoyed the fire pit in the yard. Very open and private. The local gas stations on the corner sold us firewood!”

“The house was perfect for our needs. Plenty of parking. Room to spread out. We were in the area for a wedding and used the space for the girls to get ready. The tall mirror in the hall ended up being a godsend. We were able to host breakfast at the house for the family. We even had a fire in the backyard one night. One afternoon was spent in downtown Salem, easy walking distance. And bonus, the store around the corner has amazing fried chicken.
The house is old and quirky and creaky. The steps are very squeaky. We loved all of it. If we wanted beige and boring we would have stayed at a hotel.
Note: I took one star off because the listing states bedroom 3 has an air mattress available. It does not. The owner stated it was AirBnb's fault for not removing it. The listing still has the air mattress. The house sleeps 7 if you have 3 couples and a single. We had 2 couple and 3 singles, one of whom ended up on the couch.”

“Great location and in walking distance of a number of reasonable restaurants and take out places, and a nice coffee shop within 100ft (Spells Coffee), and market on the corner are very convenient. And it is a short walk into town if you enjoy walking. House is a cozy older house with Steam radiators and wood floors which I found to be very nostalgic and enjoyed. Everything was well sorted and clean. Annick was beyond helpful and very nice. House is on a one way street off of the main road so pretty quiet and low traffic. Lots of private parking behind the house we could have fit 5 or more cars. And a good sized back yard to use had it been warmer during our stay. Loved our trip to Salem and learning more about the town's history while AirBNBing in a classic early 1900s New England house added to it. I'd stay here again if we do another trip to Salem. Rail can take you into Boston also very close to the house. Lots to do but try Spells Coffee, and try Holy Cow Icecream also.”

“Annick's place was an amazing location for a few of our friends coming from out of town driving in to stay the weekend to attend a friend's wedding at the Hawthorne Hotel. Easily walkable right to downtown Salem or super quick drive in. Spacious parking and being pet friendly was another excellent bonus to our group's situation and short stay, in addition to Annick's thoughtful and quick communication with us for our stay. Inside it was neat, clean, and a great space for hanging out while getting ready or before going out. They were also thoughtful to put some power ports/extenders in the bedrooms that mitigated the problem I've had in some other places of old New England homes not having many outlets per space.”

“We were a group of 4 staying at Annick's for the long weekend while visiting a friend who is local to Salem. The house was perfect for our purposes; the location was great, easily walkable to many local restaurants and other amenities. The huge driveway meant that parking was incredibly easy, and the yard was much larger than I expected - we didn't take advantage of the firepit due to the fact that it was, well, February, but we hope to return in warmer weather to make full use of it. The house itself had everything we needed for a comfortable weekend and we won't hesitate to return again when we can. Annick was also extremely flexible about our departure time which was hugely appreciated. Thanks Annick, hope to stay again soon!”

“Friendly host. We let her know what time we'd be arriving (5pm, the listed check-in time). No problems finding the house, easy check-in. Charming house, early 1900's, with many updates and yet many original features. Unfortunately we discovered quickly that the wifi network (and smart TV) weren't working--I wish I could have had an "unplugged" weekend, but I specifically chose a property with wifi because the work I do requires it. Messaged the owner about the issue and got a return message 55 minutes later, saying she'd send her husband the next morning to fix it. There's a DVD player, but no DVDs. No books, no cards. One old jigsaw puzzle. One children's game. Didn't hear from the owner the next morning, messaged her at 12:30pm, was told her husband was heading there then to fix it then. Finally just before 3pm it was fixed. We got back 20 minutes later, wifi worked, but all the lights and TV were left on, and a chair used as a ladder was sitting in the middle of a hallway!”

“We had a wonderful 4 nights with our three adult daughters and two grandchildren. Annick took extra care to meet our request for unscented laundry detergent, painstakingly re-washing all the towels and linens before our stay. The house was perfect for our family which included two young children who loved running around in the spacious backyard. It was quite cold out but the house was toasty warm and cozy and we enjoyed the old-fashioned radiators and even the squeaky floors! It's a very charming and well equipped older house with all the modern conveniences. It is just a five minute drive to all the historic sites and great restaurants Salem has to offer. We would definitely stay here again and happily recommend it to anyone.”

“Annick and her place were awesome. I've used AirBnB a lot and rarely do you come across a host as friendly, proactive and responsive as Annick. I'd emphasize her responsiveness. I never had to wait more than a few minutes (if that) for her to respond to my messages. The place is a little bit of a walk to the center of Salem, but it's not a hard walk and it's very convenient to the T station if you want to go to Boston. Thanks for a great stay, Annick. “Yet again Annick has proved to be the best air b&b host I’ve ever had! She is so kind hearted and the house was spotless, stocked with necessities, and comfy. This house has that old time Salem feel but is also up to date with all the amenities you would hope for. This is our 3rd year in a row staying here and Annick is not just a host but a true friend of mine now. Myself and 6 of my friends stayed here comfortably, plenty of room for everyone and so cozy! Annick recently opened a coffee shop “Spells” that is walking distance from the house and has phenomenal coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches for reasonable prices. My friends and I stopped there multiple times throughout the trip to get our day started, and the shop has souvenirs and artwork for sale inside as well. We had a blast this weekend and look forward to staying at Annick’s place for years to come!”

“Annick was great!! Communication was perfect and we weren't rushed to checkout. The house was clean and everything worked properly. It could use either bedroom TVs or a larger tv in the living room. Limited outlets available for charging in the bedrooms but it kind of added to the charm and overall we had a great experience. Downtown Salem is an easy walk and there is a convenience store right around the corner as well as some great breakfast choices within walking distance! It looks like they are building an outdoor bar or prepping to install a hot tub in the backyard. I would love to see either of those finished for my next stay!”

“The house was large enough for us 4 adults and 1 three year old. All the bedrooms were upstairs so we only had a concern of our 3 year old going down the stairs alone. It was convenient to have a full bath on both levels. There was also a very large parking area and yard. The 1st floor is very spacious so we hosted Christmas Day at the house with family. Convenient to restaurants, stores, train, and all Salem has to offer. Annick was very quick to respond to any questions we had. Would highly recommend.”

“We would give Annick and her North Salem house a gazillion stars if we could. She went out of her way to help us celebrate Thanksgiving week in her house. Everything was perfect. We were able to cook as a family and then enjoy our Thanksgiving meal with all the comforts of our own home. Annick thoughtfully supplied special items to make this possible. She checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Just delightful
Thank you!!”

“We loved everything about this old, but charming house--the space, the amenities, the location. Most of all, we loved how easy it was to get in contact and communicate with Annick. The house is located about ten-to-fifteen minutes from downtime Salem (a very nice and easy walk) and a block or two away from several mom-and-pop diners and convenient stores. The house was stocked with coffee (always a plus in my book) and basic cookware (in case you wanted to stay in a cook a meal). The dining and living room areas are small, but comfortable (I had family over almost every night and we had a grand time; no issue with space, really). As I told Annick, we will be staying here on future visits.”

“Annick’s home is only a 10-11 minute walk to downtown Salem. We had great weather so the walk seemed shorter then it was. Annick’s home is very clean and Annick is very hospitable. She provided bed sheets, towels, some bathroom toiletries, and has cooking essentials if you wish to cook during your time visiting. Would definitely recommend :)”

“Annick has to be the friendliest, most inviting host I’ve ever met through air bnb. This is actually our second time staying in her house because we loved it so much last year. Annick greeted us when we arrived and is a joy to talk with. So enthusiastic!! She made myself and my friends feel at home and genuinely encouraged us to have a great time & contact her at any point if we had any issues or needed suggestions. The house is a good size and has that rustic Salem vibe while still being comfy, up to date, & virtually spotless. So so clean! The location is ideal, maybe a 15-20min walk to the witch house/shops and 2 great breakfast spots along the way before you cross the bridge. We did not touch our cars once the entire trip. Plenty of parking too. A convenience store, package store, gas station, and dunkin are all literally right around the corner from the house. Cute, quiet neighborhood. A great little porch with rocking chairs to have coffee on in the mornings. I don’t want to stay anywhere else in Salem now and Annick feels like an old friend! We will be back next year for sure!”

“This house is 10/10!!!!! A fantastic find and close to ALL in Salem. The house more than suited our needs while we were in town for a wedding. We were originally supposed to be 6 people but ended up being 4. The amount of space we had was great. I feel that this house could easily situate 9 people because there are 3 bedrooms upstairs, two of which contain 2 queen beds, one contains 3 beds (a queen and a twin). We didn't end up using the 3 bed bedroom and only used the 2 queen rooms. Downstairs, there appeared to also be a pull out couch. Not sure if it works , but I'd ask Annick and definitely consider this house if you're looking to host 9 people. Check in was a breeze. We got into town a bit early and Annick was more than accommodating, letting us check in early. The house was spotless and smelled freshly cleaned. I called my parents upon arrival (they were still on the way) and said "You're going to love this place!". We are seasoned travelers and have stayed at many airbnbs around the world. We usually bring extra towels. This place had more than enough towels for 4 of us (who showered a lot). We didn't even have to use the ones we brought. For larger crowds and longer stays it would depend though. We only stayed 2 nights and were a party of 4. The house was fully stocked with essentials and the basics. From creamers in the fridge, to plenty of Dunkin' Donuts coffee pods, assorted teas, to body wash and mini shampoos, wash cloths, a hair dryer, ironing board, iron, extra tissues, extra toilet paper, you name it! The kitchen also had everything, even a pair of scissors for cutting an itchy tag off of my dress on the way out to the wedding! Everything was easy to find and right where you thought it would be. I also enjoyed the extra fuzzy blanket supplied in my bedroom. There was another one in the front queen room. The beds were comfortable. Plenty of pillows, which I find important to mention. There was a great amount of space for parking. We like that the driveway went behind the house for privacy and security. The area felt super safe. The block was very, very quiet! We slept perfectly without a worry that we'd be woken up. The porch was perfect and relaxing, complete with rocking chairs and a BBQ grill. My parents enjoyed sitting out there and having coffee each morning. Very close to the expressways. The wedding and related events were all in the Peabody area. We flew to each event in around 20 min. with traffic and at night it seemed like even less. Cannot stress enough how great this location was for getting to the surrounding areas and for going into Salem to sightsee. The train appeared to be nearby. It was a 4 min. drive into the heart of town, which is right over the bridge. You could walk if you need to but we drove into town and were lucky to find parking with ease. There's a "711" type store on the corner which gave us peace of mind if we forgot or needed anything! We followed the recommendation of the host and went to Dotty and Ray's Diner for breakfast. Leave the car in the driveway and walk there because it's steps away! It took a total of 3 min. to walk there (and we are not fast!). It was a great recommendation! I need to emphasize that we are a "tough crowd" to please, especially my parents! My Mom and Dad were loving life here. We would 110% return and we highly recommend this spot for a group trip to Salem!!!!”

“I can't say enough good things about this place or Annick. I'll try to make this as concise as possible...
Annick (the host): She's extremely warm, helpful, and went way above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and situated. She and her family even let us borrow their bikes to cruise around Salem on for the day! Annick also sent me some "local" spots to check out that don't appear on the tourist to-do lists.
The house: Immaculately clean, beautiful floors, and a well-stocked kitchen. I was really impressed - the pictures don't do it justice.
Location: it's a quick walk or bike ride into town. We were on Essex street (by bike) in under 5 minutes - walking would've been less than 15. The neighborhood is really nice and not touristy at all while having all of the Salem charm. Additionally, there's a park just down the street for walking, jogging, working out, and a playground for kids.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Annick is one of the best hosts I've ever encountered on ABnB! I'm confident you'll feel similarly if you decide to stay here :)”

“This is a wonderful home to be staying in. From the moment you arrive you can tell the owners of the place want you to feel as if you're there as a family member, rather than just a guest. Annick's response time is extremely fast and she will go above and beyond for you to have a wonderful experience. When you first step in you'll notice the spiced candle that's lit and how incredible clean everything looks. The linen is fresh and clean for your shower needs, she also provides individual soap, shampoo and conditioner for everyone in your group, just in case anyone forgot there's. The kitchen is fully stocked with any cooking utensils. (I was able to make our group a dinner one night easily). Annick also had some staples like coffee, tea, cream, and butter. The coffee was wonderful to make and enjoy on the porch as an early morning treat to myself. Lastly, the location of this home is perfect! You are easily within walking distance to downtown Salem(took us about 15 minutes to walk down). The cemetery near by(about a 5 minute walk) is a beautiful area and I would recommend walking through it, if you have the time. I cannot wait to return and use Annick's home again.”
