Great clean space with good window unit A/C...can get it nice and chilly :). Place is on quiet side street and it's a third floor walk up. Daniel's mother Nancy is charming and shows you the place at check in and is there to make sure everything is ok. All around great stay.”

“Having lived in NYC for awhile prior to my current visit, I can certainly attest to the great location. About 20 min to Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Within 5 min walk to pharmacies, gyms, supermarkets, USPS, many restaurants. A lot of things are nearby if you need something.

“I have really enjoyed my stay at Daniel's place in Astoria. If you need to go to Manhattan but you don't necessarily want to stay in the city area, Astoria is the place to be.
It is very close to Steinway St station, which will take you to the city in 30m or less. There are supermarkets, a dollar tree, a drug store, cafes and places to eat within walking distance. You get to lock your room before you leave the apartment which is nice too. There is no elevator so you need to bring your luggage up the stairs to the 3rd floor. Overall I had a very great time here, and Nancy was very nice as well.”

“This place is great! It is as pictured, with plenty of space and light. Clean and cute. Lovely hospitality. The area is also very quaint and fun, with cool eateries, shops etc... I was working in midtown during my stay and was able to get there really fast, so great location too. It just becomes a bit hard to get here after midnight.”

“This is a great airbnb for solo travelers that require a quiet space! During the week you can easily access to Manhattan. In my experience, there were no more than 3 persons in the airbnb. The host, another guest (other room) and you!!”

“The room is what exactly you will see in the photos. Yes, it becomes hot with the window closed but you just need to open it and it’s already ok. The location of the building is safe, near the subway station, CVS/other pharmacies, laundry, grocery, and even a few restaurants. Don’t mind the distance of the property to Manhattan the subway ride is literally fast and safe.
The host: Daniel is very responsive though I never had a chance to meet him. His mom, Nancy is an awesome and a caring host. I got flu during my trip and Nancy was so gracious to cook Chicken Noodle Soup for me even gave me medicine. This helped a lot in recovering from flu. I think not all hosts will give you this care when staying at their home. Staying at their place makes you feel at home with your second mom caring for you.
If ever I’ll be in NY again, I won’t think twice and will stay again here.”

The radiator in the room provided more than enough heat during my December stay and both windows could be opened, keeping the room comfortable even on the more temperate nights.

“My stay at Daniel's was absolutely comfortable to say the least. One might look at the map and think it's far away from Manhattan, when it's actually just 15 mins away. The subway is just a 5 min walk to Steinway station and you can take the R or M train from there. The food choices close by are endless and it may earn you some pounds before you leave. I'd recommend the brothers cafe for breakfast.”

If you go there in the winter, the room can be hot with the radiator, but you can prop windows open to help. TV is ok, only basic channels. Wifi was ok too, somedays it was a bit spotty. Laundry around the corner. A walkable Food Bazaar grocery is awesome. Post office just down the block too. Parking: not the easiest around his house, not terrible either, but there are a few streets (upper 40s - 50s, definitely look it up online to verify) that don't have any street cleaning schedule, so I parked there and left my car. It was brilliant! Very close to the subway (40 min to Upper West Side) and lots of restaurants/shops nearby as well. Safe neighborhood. I do think it's a little steep in price, but overall excellent spot. Oh - the key to the bldg's main door can be tricky, so be patient with it, it does work. :)”

“Thank you for Nancy and Daniel. I've traveled for a month. It was the best experience. Most familiar and lovely person Nancy was always in the house and protected me. I was relieved. There was a big food market about 2 blocks away and the subway station(Steinway station) was, too. It was very convenient to live. If R or M train in Steinway St not works, you can go to 'Broadway Station' which is about 15 minutes away. Room was the most comfortable.
If I go back to NYC I will definitely stay here. Love you Nancy.”

“I had a great stay at Daniel's place in Astoria. It was a great location with so much to do (and eat!) nearby.
I think the biggest disappointment was the train service (which clearly Daniel had no control over) While there was a station only a couple of blocks from the apartment, the service was subpar on the weekends and at night. Be prepared for headaches on the subway at those times if you stay in this area on your trip.”

“I never actually got to meet Daniel, but his mum Nancy made me feel most welcome. The place has everything you would need - a decent bed, a good shower and a small but usable kitchen. This worked really well for me as I spent most of my time in Manhattan. Steinway St subway is a couple of blocks away so it's really easy to get in and out of the city at all hours. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.”

“Het was een fijne buurt om te verblijven. Appartement was prima, verwarming was niet zelf te regelen daardoor veel te warm op slaapkamer. Aardige gastvrouw. Mijn persoonlijke voorkeur gaat toch uit naar wat meer privacy. Dit was voor mij de eerste keer dat ik via airbnb een overnachting heb geboekt. verder prima manier om de stad NY te verkennen.”
“Daniel responded to our booking very quickly. Afterwards, all communication was done through his Mum, Nancy. She was quick to respond to our text messages and very helpful and accommodating. We never actually met Daniel, but Nancy was lovely.
The apartment is in a great location, a few minutes walk from the subway with 2 lines going to Manhattan (M & R). There is a laundromat, convenience store and Chinese takeaway place around the corner, and with cafes and restaurants just a short walk away. We never felt unsafe in the neighbourhood.
The apartment and bedroom were very clean, Nancy provided us with bath and face towels, and we had full access to the bathroom and kitchen.
Our one complaint was that the internet was choppy and unreliable which was a bit of a hassle.
Otherwise, we loved our stay in NYC. It was a lovely apartment, great location, close to everywhere we wanted to go, and Nancy was very accommodating. Would strongly recommend!”

“It's a pretty small apartment, but It's wonderful and sweet to stay with Nancy and Dean for 5 days, Nancy was so warm and thoughtful, took care of all the small details in order to make us feel at home. Moreover it's touching to see her dear motherly love for her two sons. I also realized that she tried very hard not to appear while we were at home or using kitchen, etc. Daniel is professional in managing as well. Though I have never met him, he's ensured the process goes smoothly. During my stay, we had a separated layer in the fridge, clean white sheets, towels, etc with good smell~everywhere is clean. Though it's located in queens, it's still super convenient with train R and M to go almost anywhere I wanted to visit. Also convenient with many stores and bars surrounded! Good! good!”

“I never met Daniel but his mother was at the apartment to let me in and give me keys. The instructions for finding the apartment as well as home rules were very clear and this in a safe, fun area of Queens.
The room was clean and neat with a very firm mattress, much harder than I sleep on at home so that interfered with my sleep. The room is very hot so I opened the windows, but it was still uncomfortably hot for me. The apartment itself is quiet but with open windows I had a lot of street noise.
Lastly, although house rules were clear about keeping the kitchen clean, food was left on the stove with dishes in the sink and all of that was still there when I got up in the am. Because the kitchen was not cleaned, food aromas were quite strong in the apartment.”

“Stayed here a full month and become quite attached to the room and the neighborhood. Convenient and quiet with unlimited local eateries and places to discover like the Brazilian Cafe's buffet and the gigantic Salvation Army. La chambre donne sur une rue un peu bruyante le matin et le frère de Daniel qui réside de manière permanente dans l'appartement (3 chambres dont 2 pour les hôtes Airbnb) se lève assez tôt donc il vaut mieux se munir de boule Quies si on a le sommeil léger. L'appartement est à 5 min à pied de la première station de métro et il y a plein de petits commerces, laveries, restaurants etc. Le quartier est calme et pour une fille voyageant seule je l'ai trouvé sûre.”

The room itself seemed clean enough, though the whole building seems to be pretty old. I do not believe Daniel lives there at all but his brother does and then their are the two rooms available to rent. Enjoyed the location but the room itself isn't a place you'd want to hang out a ton. Also gets pretty warm because on the top level of apartment building and when you leave you must turn your window unit AC off. His mom was nice.”

マンハッタンには出るのもそんなに難しくないですよ！

“I had a wonderful time at Daniel's place and I can't recommend it enough! It is very clean, the room was nice and the bed was a dream! Daniel's mother explained everything to me when I arrived, and I immediately felt at home. The neighborhood is also very nice and everything you need is basically right around the corner. The wifi was strong and reliable (big factor for me). I didn't meet any of the other house guests because I was mostly out. I would definitely stay at this place again if I came to NY again.”

“I stayed in Daniels for 10 nights. The room is in a really quiet are of Astoria and a 2 minute walk from the train. I was able to get to Manhattan in 15 minutes. The apartment itself while small, has everything you could need and I was delighted to also have a TV in my room for those quieter evenings.
The room itself has a nice double bed and was very clean and tidy (like the test of the apartment)
I'd happily recommend Daniel as a host and this room is perfect for someone in New York for business or pleasure. Thumbs up from me!!!”

“Good starting point to visit NY because there is a subway station less than 5 minutes walk. Even if I've never met Daniel, it was not difficult to contact him via sms. His brother and his mom were helpful during my check in and check out.

“This was my first air b&b experience and it was definitely positive!
I stayed 1 month in the large room at Daniel's apartment in Astoria, Queens. The location was excellent with subway just a few blocks away and a super short 10-15 min subway ride to get into midtown Manhattan. Astoria itself is a great and safe neighbourhood with lots of local restaurants, grocery stores, shops, laundry mats, etc within a few minutes walk.
Daniel was professional, friendly, and courteous when we set up my stay and tried to address any problems or concerns that I had as they came up. Although I didn't see much of Daniel during the course of my stay, either his brother, who lives at the apartment, or mother who checked me in, were around to help out.
This is a shared apartment on the 3rd floor of this building with 1 permanent resident, Daniel's brother, who isn't there often, and 2 Air BnB bedrooms. There is a small common space and a small but functioning kitchen. The bathroom was clean. Although there were sometimes 3-4 persons staying at the apartment at any given point, access to the bathroom and kitchen were never really an issue as we all had different schedules and being a visitor, I wasn't at the apartment too much.
The large room I stayed in had everything I needed including a desk, dresser, comfortable bed, and importantly windows for fresh air. Of note, the apartment faces a side street and there can be some traffic in the morning so for light sleepers, you might be woken a bit early, but certainly this was NOT a major problem.
The wireless internet was occasionally spotty, but Daniel was actively look into a permanent solution for this problem.
I used LaGuardia airport for my flights and it was a short 15min $15 cab ride. One can also take the subway and bus, which is about 30-45min, but less than $3 each way.
Overall, I would recommend this place!”
