“Extremely terrifying unprofessional unsafe experience! The host seems nice at first,but its a facade for reviews not genuine care for guests. Once we reported issues rightfully as paying guests, her true character emerged. We only reported the listing having 1 bed+a sofa instead of 3 as promised. Despite the space also being dirty, sticky surfaces,smelly towels,hair in bathroom,flimsy locks which felt unsafe,we were still planning a good review until the host retaliated. On Christmas day with no warning, she changed the gate code,entered with our belongings inside,blocked our vehicle,and locked us out.2 women with 2 kids left in the cold in a city we’re not from. She falsely claimed we “left,” insulted us, refused access to our belongings, and stopped responding. We could legally stay until the 26th as we spent hundreds to do so,yet she acted out of revenge,committing an illegal lockout and withholding our belongings until the police intervened which forced her to let us retrieve them!”

“This place is a horse lovers dream! it is nestled on top of an active horse barn and surrounded by pastures. There's a beautiful skyline of the mountains that you can see from the deck. The inside has horse decor galore and is farm themed! I loved it! There's a lot of room even though it's a 1 bed room 1 bath spot. You won't even know youre on a horse farm until you see a horse (no smells). I had such a wonderful time here and can't wait to revisit!!!”

“What a serene and healing place... we sat for long periods at every time of day (and evening) just gazing out at the hills, green fields, moody sky and horses, listening to the frogs and birds - with some occasional input from the sweet donkey. If you're lucky you'll catch the aerial show of birds dive-bombing on the pond.
Laurie is a stellar host. She's willing to share her insights. Her love and reverence for the place she lives shines through. We would recommend Laurie's place without reservation as a soulful retreat for couples or solo travelers.”
“Laurie was very nice and responsive and her two horses and the donkey were lovely! However the place was not clean, there were dirty pots and utensils in the cabinets( used and unwashed) and the sheets smelled. There were spiders and bugs and overall not nearly as nice as shown in pics. It had no windows and was directly above the stables. For what we paid for a somewhat remote location we were expecting to relax and enjoy the views but ended up spending our time outside the place instead and left early.
With the right descrption and price this could be a good stay considering your expectations and travel plans but was not what we expected or suitable for a family with little kids.”

“Laurie’s place was so perfectly located for visiting around Asheville and we even visited a local Leicester deli and grocery called Grateful Roots (highly recommend)! The farm is breathtaking and we enjoyed the views when we weren’t out exploring. We got to chat a bit with Laurie at the end of stay, and she was so friendly! Make sure you bring all the essentials you need for toiletries, but there is a Keurig with some tea and k-cups provided which was a nice touch! The bed is a little soft, so just keep that in mind if you like a harder bed, but it’s okay to sleep on for a few nights!”

The cottage was exactly as described with a comfortable bed in the room and good pull out mattress (with an added memory foam)
About 30 minutes from downtown Asheville and within an hour of a lot of hikes.

“Laurie's place is absolutely amazing. You're situated above a horse barn, but there is ZERO smell. You only notice the smell of horses when you're literally right in front of them. There is a grill on the deck that we didn't get a chance to use, but we enjoyed sitting out on the deck watching the sunset! We didn't need to use the washer/dryer in the bathroom, but if we had stayed longer, we might have taken advantage of that. The shower was a little small, but that's to be expected. Hot water came really fast too! The water from the sink is filtered before it enters the building and it is such good tasting mountain water. My partner and I enjoyed cooking in the space, although there was no cutting board so we had to cut veggies on plates. The bed is an older firm spring mattress that has a memory foam topper so it's a little squishy but still comfortable. There is an ample supply of blankets for cuddling by the fake fire heater. There is a super friendly cat who absolutely demanded our attention; we loved her company. Laurie took us down to the barn so we could meet the horses and donkey, and we even got to help her take them out to the field. Laurie was great and wore her mask and I loved hearing her stories about her animals. The AT&T service came and went, but the Wi-Fi was great!”

“Laurie's Horse Farm is a perfect escape into the country. It is quiet and away from the road so that you are surrounded only by the sounds of the country. The apartment was fully furnished and has all the linens we needed. We stayed during the COVID-19 times and she bleached everything and had cleaning standards well documented and noted. It is perfectly located between Asheville (about a 15 minute drive to downtown) and all the surrounding nature sites. Added benefit, we got to meet the horses and donkey and found out how cool donkeys really are! Would definitely stay here again!”
