We look forward to hosting you at Chateau Solace. **** LONG TERM BOOKING NOTE *** If you're interested in booking the house on a monthly basis, or for multiple months, please still reach out and inquire about your desired dates even if they don't appear as available on the calendar. HOUSE IS AVAILABLE FOR SHORT TERM, MID TERM, AND LONG TERM RENTAL PERIODS. Just let us know your desired rental length! All spaces accessible to guests, except a few owner lockups. We ask that the garage not be used for car parking. We also ask to not rearrange furniture or anything borrowed (coolers, flashlights, etc) be returned for future guest use. We realize that most guests choose our property because coming to the mountains with fur babies makes for meaningful memories. Because not all guests enjoy pets and we must maintain a standard for all guests, very hairy/messy pets may incur an additional fee passed onto us by our cleaning crew. If this is the case, we will communicate with the guests as soon as possible. We provide pet blankets in the laundry area to protect the couches and beds from pet har or debris. We do not allow cats. There are great restaurants and wineries/breweries in the area - a welcome guide is available after booking. The home is on well water and may have a sulfur smell. All water is safe to drink, bathe and enjoy the hot tub as the house is on a full house filtration and softener. The faucet in the kitchen has a reverse osmosis water system for optimal drinking water. Guests may choose to bring bottled water but not necessary. The hot tub is maintained weekly and ready for you to use; please shower before entering the tub and there is no glass allowed near or in the tub. The hot tub is open all year long. Smoking is not permitted. You may smoke outdoors with an ashtray only. Please pick up your cigarette or cigar butts. Trash is picked up AFTER you depart. There are cans provided outside to put your bagged trash; please save those cans for the trash that may have food in it. Trash with cans, bottles and recyclables should be tied up tight and placed NEXT to the cans when you depart. As a reminder, if the hot tub or key appliance becomes inoperable during your stay, the repair person may not be available to make a service call during your stay. In the event of any inconvenience, we cannot offer refunds. Many guests will visit the river and some may decide to swim. Please bring your own life jackets and safety equipment and remember that guests swim at their own risk. Nothing is to be flushed except provided toilet paper as the house is on septic. It is very delicate. Any misuse and costs for damages/repairs due to flushing wipes, feminine hygiene products, etc are guests’ responsibility. The house is welcoming, and because we are in the woods, there will be insects and critters hoping to get in as well. Consider insect and tick repellant, wipe yourself and pets down after coming in from outside, and wear appropriate footwear if you enjoy the outdoors.

Amanda & Lyndsey gave lots of clear & useful information, always responded in under 15 minutes, and had no crazy check-out needs. Particularly grateful that they provided enough towels for a large group (at other trips, we’ve had to do laundry mid-stay).
For the property: The seclusion is unmatched! That, paired with the full wrap around outdoor living space was key for a uniquely relaxing weekend. We also enjoyed all the living spaces, many bedrooms, easy-to-use fireplaces, kitchen counter space, and many parking spots. We would love to stay here again!”

“The Chateau was lovely. We slept in the King suite (top floor) before we decided we aren't natural light folk, lol. Very comfy bed and the downstairs suite with the jack n jill bath also had a very comfy bed. The whole house was comfortable and the hot tub was huge.”

“We had a great stay at Amanda and Lyndsey’s place. The house itself is so unique with plenty of room for our group to spread out. The kitchen was adequately stocked with the necessary pots, pans as we mostly cooked our meals on site. I enjoyed sitting on the deck in the cool morning air and listening to the birds. Even had a close up visit from a hummingbird! The property was private and as described. It took me a minute to get used to no window coverings but I came to enjoy seeing the moon and stars at night and gently waking with the sun. I loved seeing the green trees from every room with the huge windows. I can imagine how beautiful it would be in the fall and winter. The sauna was a treat! Amanda and Lyndsey were very responsive to any questions we had.”

We enjoyed being close to nature in the forest, waking up to the sounds of the birds and wind chimes. The inside is modern yet cozy and serene. Great place to do yoga, meditate, read, cook or simply relax.
We drove Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park and saw the most incredible views that we will cherish.

“Well equipped home on an amazing property. Beware that if you arrive past dark the road is extremely dark and winding. As is typical of a property in the woods, there were many lady bugs and stink bugs in the house. Unfortunately, all of our attendees who used the hot tub arrived home with a bacterial infection and needed antibiotics. The diagnosis was directly related to hot tub use.”

Amanda and Lyndsey were responsible and helpful before and during the trip, and their home is beautiful. We especially appreciated the hot tub, full kitchen, and multiple outdoor spaces beyond the private natural forest - which had perhaps the best stargazing we’ve seen. We drove to two hikes, but beyond that stayed at the house and had everything we needed. We’re already planning on coming back!”
“The name suits this property perfectly! You really do feel like you are in a castle hidden away in the national forest. You can hike or mountain bike from the property or visit the gorgeous trails over at Shenandoah River State Park. The outdoor spaces with screened in porch, solar lights, large fenced in yards for the pups, and huge hot tub were amazing! The master bedroom upstairs is incredibly luxurious. You feel like you are in a tree house and can watch the sunrise and stars from the warmth of indoors. Plus two gas fireplaces! The open concept makes visiting with family and friends so nice. We enjoyed cooking all of our meals. The only possible down side is the internet is a bit patchy, but did you really come to the river/mountains to be on your phone!?! Hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful. If you or a family member have mobility issues please keep in mind that you must climb two flights of stairs to get to the main level. We will definitely return often!”

“First let me start off by saying that Lindsey & Amanda were very responsive , & friendly. All of the instructions were pretty clear & easy to follow. I would definitely stay at another one of their listings in the future. Secondly, the house was BEAUTIFUL. Like the pictures don’t really do it any justice. The six of us enjoyed the sunset , & the bright moon lit sky at night…everything about the scenery was great. The amount of privacy was everything you could ask for. There were a few things that we noticed once we were able to get settled.The WiFi was very spotty at times , & it became a little frustrating when trying to stream things to watch. Some of the switches didn’t work. We wish we’re were informed about the amount of ladybugs , amongst some other critters that we’re going to be in the house! They were everywhere , inside & out. We were very aware of being located in the woods/mountains but we definitely didn’t know they were going to around like they were.”
“What a dream house! It feels like you are in a huge treehouse with a view up above of the branches of all the trees in the forest. We loved the open space and the flood of sunlight that comes in the huge windows throughout the day. And of course the fireplace and hot tub were incredible. We were able to all relax and have a great family get away. On top of it all there were loads of games - even a real dartboard and a gym. It was a fantastic getaway - just an hour and a half from DC. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the hosts were very responsive and thorough with instructions and recommendations. We look forward to our next stay there!”

“The house and property are incredible. Very well maintained…. Clean, no issues. The house is Extremely isolated, but that was a plus for us. The hot tub was a huge hit! The beds are comfy. Murat caverns are about 30 minutes away. The entrance to Shenandoah is about 15-20 minutes. Amanda and Lyndsey were very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely book again.”

“Chateau Solace is WONDERFUL!! Driving into the location is exciting and beautiful! Once you reach the top of the long winding driveway, this beautiful mansion appears. It’s amazing that you can’t see it from the road. The inside is just as magnificent as the outside! I felt perfectly comfortable and at ease right away. It is a super peaceful location. Watching the stars from the hot tub is incredible. Also, watching stars in the upstairs bedroom at night…incredible! During the day we rafted down the river, which is minutes away. Then we hiked up to the waterfalls and jumped in the beautiful pools. When we didn’t feel like cooking, we drove into town and found some great restaurants and breweries with live music. I also got in some golf at one of the local courses. Beautiful course and inexpensive! Lots of fun! It was a wonderful get away and I can’t wait to go back!”
