For parking: please park in the gravel driveway - please do not park on the grass Other things to note Location & Travel Times: The charming town of Luray and the famous Luray Caverns are 20 mins away. Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park (off Hwy 211) is a scenic 25–30 minute drive from the cabin. Shenandoah River Outfitters is a walkable distance away (or a 1 minute drive) Road Conditions: The slight uphill road leading to Vista Grande is gravel and not state or county maintained. The road can be a little bumpy, so feel free to drive on whichever side is smoother. Groceries & Essentials: We recommend picking up groceries before arrival, as the nearest stores are about 12 miles away. A charcoal grill is available (please bring your own charcoal). Campfire wood available for purchase / $10 per bundle. Bath/Shower Info: The tub/shower combo has a grab bar, but the tub is taller than standard height, so it may not be ideal for those with limited mobility. Electric Vehicles: No EV charging is available on-site, and use of indoor or outdoor electrical outlets is not permitted. “Spent two days at David and Becky's place while visiting the Shenandoah National Park. A very convenient location - about 40 minutes from the Thornton Gap entrance and many cool hikes. As other reviewers point out, the last 0.2 miles to the cabin are pretty rough - but then, we were driving a Honda Fit and still made it. The cabin is well stocked with basic necessities, both inside and out (nice to have dedicated outdoor chairs on both balconies!) We've made good use of the charcoal grill, and enjoyed the whirlpool bathtub which was large enough for two people. Our dog appreciated the grassy area behind the house and the covered side porch, and seemed to enjoy all the new smells. All in all, a very relaxing vacation!”

“Single dad with two young teens. We stayed a week. Everyone got a room. No complaints from anyone on the mattresses. Lots of extra towels for showers and the river days.
Back yard was great for star gazing, our water guns, the fire pit (wood to buy on site/very convenient), and provided corn hole game. They loved the fabric chair swings and multiple decks.
Most of our local adventures were within 30mins of the house. Skyline drive is close but you simply choose how far you want to go on that. Closest adventure was the river outfitters just down the hill with options to tube, canoe, raft etc.
Hosts were quick and friendly on replies; whether digital or by phone. Easy check in & easy check out. Would stay here again. Thank you so much.”

Very responsive to any messages I sent them. Their cabin is beautiful and the view from the porch out back was incredible. Very surprised that I didn’t stay up all night fighting bugs. There were hardly any bugs in the cabin. Whenever we plan on going to Virginia again, we will most definitely be booking with them again. Thank you so much for having us.”

The beautiful views, the patios off the bedroom and the living room area, the jacuzzi tub with surrounding windows looking at the beautiful skyline. The house was immaculate clean, all the instructions were clear and the advice and recommendations were spot on. I cannot wait for my next trip. My children loved the hammock swings! “We had a wonderful stay at David & Becky's place - "Vista Grande" perfectly describes the beautiful view of the mountains we enjoyed. The cabin was a great size for our family of 4, with a comfortable kitchen for making breakfast and enjoying coffee before we hit the road for adventures each day, and comfy beds when we were ready to rest. I especially appreciated how nicely stocked with necessities the kitchen was, without being full of extras from previous guests (as we've experienced at other AirBnBs where drawers and refrigerators are filled with condiments from others' stays). The refrigerator and freezer were absolutely spotless.
We took advantage of the games David & Becky had stocked, which was a helpful addition to what we'd brought from home to entertain our boys, and loved watching TV while admiring the cabin's beautiful fireplace. We had designs to use the firepit and the evenings got away from us, but David & Becky had firewood ready for a small fee had we needed it.”

“Our stay was perfect for our anniversary. Private but not secluded (city girl, needs some other people around lol). Views were amazing. The mountains and fall colors during the day and the most beautiful starry skies at night. Already talking about going back and bringing our kids because they will LOVE IT there. Great recommendations for food and drinks, so we tried a couple places (triple crown BBq, Wisteria winery, blues sherpherd distillery and their food truck on site there) and all were so good. Other times we just cooked at the house, everything you could need to cook with was provided.
Luray caverns was insanely cool and and easy drive from the house.
Super dog friendly, my pups had a great time too! House was clean and cozy. Wonderful trip.”
“Our 3rd year in a row staying here! We have 3 little kids + our dog and religiously visit Shenandoah NP every fall, this is by far our favorite place that we’ve stayed and continue to come back. Beautiful view from the front porch and balconies (especially in the fall with the changing leaves), super easy drive into Luray and easy access to both Shenandoah NP and GW National Forest. Hosts are extremely accommodating and responsive - definitely recommend!”

“Vista Grande definitely lived up to its name and then some! We stayed over the 4th of July weekend and being able to sit on the back deck and watch fireworks all weekend was amazing! The place looks exactly like the pictures and was very clean throughout. My family and I had a very relaxing trip and enjoyed being able to call this place home for a few days.
David and Becky were extremely helpful and provided us with some local tips that were greatly appreciated. They were responsive to all of our questions and check in was a breeze which was wonderful after a long drive to get there.

“We stayed 3 nights, Thurs-Sun, over Thanksgiving. Vista Grande is just as described, and perfect for us. The bed we slept in was really comfortable. We were a lot closer to town (i.e. grocery stores and restaurants) than we thought. Nice little neighborhood- not busy at all, so we felt comfortable walking our pup. Sunrises over the mountains were so beautiful! It was cool in the evening, so we had a fire in the backyard, which was so nice. A highlight of our trip was a hike to Kennedy's Peak. It's about 5 miles, and a bit of a challenge, but what a view! Thanks for having us, David and Becky!”

“David and beckys place was outstanding. cannot recommend it enough. house has a warm, cozy rustic feel and very clean and spacious. perfect for 1, 2 or 3 people or a family of up to 4 ppl. its 20 mins to everything via car and they make that clear. the outside views are gorgeous! there are 2 hammock like swings overlooking the property which my wife practically had to pry me out of when it was time to go. I'm getting them for my house! the shower is very good, clean excellent water pressure and very hot. didn't try the hot tub. awesome spot. and David and Becky n co. were uber helpful and responded immediately to any message. great recommendations too. there is a small lake about .5 miles away as well. do yourself a favor and stay here. cannot recommend this place enuff. we will be back hopefully soon!”

“If you're looking for a place to relax in nature but still like having indoor plumbing, this is the place to be! Vista Grande is in a small neighborhood, but otherwise very quiet and secluded area. Glad we were recommended to pick up all necessary supplies. The space has many helpful kitchen tools and utensils to cook well.
The view is beautiful of the nearby valley with a gorgeous sunrise (if there's no fog!!). David & Becky gave precise directions with recommendations on the best way to drive there. They left us to enjoy the space, but were responsive if needed. My family and I very much enjoyed our stay and hope to come back in the future.”

This was the perfect home base from which to explore Shenandoah National Park. We took awesome hikes 3 days in a row...and we even did the zip lining in Luray, which was super-fun and a great activity for our 2 teens. The kitchen at this airbnb is fabulous. Not only is it very well-stocked, but it is organized in such a way that it is easy to find whatever you are looking for. We felt extremely at home here right away. David & Becky were proactive with clear instructions about everything and were extremely responsive to our questions. We would stay here again in a heartbeat should we be lucky enough to return to the gorgeous Shenandoah Valley!”
“Lovely! Took our dog and 3yo. It was the perfect getaway for the family. The views are gorgeous!!! We visited town, the caverns, and spent time on the swings, playing games, watching movies, and enjoying our dog run like crazy in the yard. Our original plan was day hikes in Shen, but we were blocked from hiking because of local forest fires. David kept us updated on the status. And we had a great time. The place we s clean, cozy, the most amazing view from the shower, and I’ll add as someone who is always cold, fantastic heating! This cabin is really a treasure.”
