Hosts were very responsive and the cabin had everything we needed for our stay, including the chimney starter for the charcoal. We did bring our own wood and charcoal for grilling out but it was available for purchase if you do not have that available to you. I would recommend this location to anyone who is planning on hiking in the Shenandoah Valley or exploring in Luray.”

“The cabin was clean and neat with plenty of pots and pans, glassware, dishes and utensils. The microwave and stove were very clean and worked well. We appreciated that dish soap, a scrubber sponge and kitchen towels were provided. We also appreciated that there was shampoo in the shower, since we had both forgotten ours. The beds were comfortable and the cabin printed bed linens were fun. The air conditioning worked well. We enjoyed the views of the woods from the windows, and sitting at the table out on the back deck was lovely. We were both able to make calls from our phones and the Wi-Fi worked well. My daughter's dog loved having a big yard to run in and chase her ball. There is no fence, but she is used to that, so it wasn't a problem for us.”

Being in the Shenandoah valley, everywhere you look will be beautiful with dense forest, rolling hills, blue hazy mountains, and the property is just a short walk to the southern fork of the Shenandoah river. I highly recommend this property.”

“This cabin was adorable, super clean, and perfect for our weekend in Luray. We didn’t spend much time there during the day, but our evenings were cozy. The place was sparkling clean when we arrived, and the communication about check in and just in general was great. We used the fire pit out back with wood that was provided at a small cost, which was a lovely way to hang after a long day of hiking and have a glass of wine. The kitchen was well-equipped, bathrooms too. They thought of everything! There were lots of games at the house to play on the comfy couches, and the tv had a bunch of channels to choose from. 10/10 recommend and would stay again.”

“Acorn Hill cabin is a great value for the location. The view really is the best part. From the cabin windows and deck, you can see the mountains and the deck is great for stargazing. It is a 15-20 min gorgeous drive down the river into Luray, which we grew to love taking each day. The gravel road up to the cabin in bumpy (as they warn) but we navigated it just fine in a Prius.
David and Becky are wonderful hosts. They were immediately responsive to all of our questions and needs and are local to the area which makes a big difference to their hospitality and ability to help out.
The cabin is exactly as pictured. There is a big open room with kitchen, dining table, and comfortable couches in front of a large TV with dish cable. The kitchen electric stove heated very quickly. There are several board games and card games to play. There is no wifi as mentioned but we were able to use phones as hot spots when needed.
The outdoor space is plentiful, including a new front and side deck with tables and corn hole, a large older back deck with dining table and grill, a grassy front yard, and a grassy slopes back yard with a fire pit. There is firewood you can use and leave cash for that goes to local kids. We traveled in April and the bugs were just starting to come out. Expect bees and a lot of gnats. It’s part of being in the woods. Just come expecting it and prepared with bug spray.
Both heat and AC worked great and every room has a ceiling fan. Bedrooms are pretty small but all you need. The beds are decently comfortable and every room has black out shades. There are not dressers, but I was able to put clothes on the open shelves and in the bedside tables. There are 1.5. bathrooms which I found to be really nice when traveling with my whole family. The shower is hot with good pressure and the tub (in a separate room) is very large (so large the hot water does run out when filling it all the way for an adult).
I would return to one of David and Becky’s properties but may consider a different one if traveling with our toddler again, as the house had a bit of a strange smell at times and the back deck stairs were difficult for him to navigate safely.”

“A spotless & cozy cabin with convenient access to the river outfitter. You simply must get on the river and experience that. Surrounded by mountains and a gorgeous landscape, it's otherworldly. If you plan your trip as we did, you might be the only ones on the river like we were (we canoed). And only about 30 minutes drive to skyline drive for amazing views of the valley and hiking the Appalachian Trail. We also toured the Luray Caverns which is definitely worth the price of admission. Overall a great experience. Can't wait to go back. HOO-ray for LOO-ray!!!”
“It was a great stay! We only stayed for a couple days to rest up for our next stop on our adventure. But we felt right at home. The little cabin had pretty good room for our crew of 5 (plus our dog). Being dog friendly gives it an even better rating in our eyes. There were enough dishes/amenities for us to make our food each day so it was definitely like home.The area had beautiful views and wasn't too far from the Shenandoah National Park. We plan to visit again.”

The jacuzzi was wonderful after a long day but my absolute favorite was just chilling/grilling on the deck and taking in nature. There is so much wildlife to appreciate. Like I mentioned, the cabin was very clean, well stocked as far as basic items (hair dryer, towels, blankets, seasoning, pots and pans, etc). and exactly as described. David and Becky are incredibly responsive and even checked in with us to make sure we arrived safely. Overall we had a wonderfully tranquil stay and it was everything we wanted. Definitely take at least a mid-size SUV/crossover and not a compact, low to the ground car; as the roads are rough and rocky but not too bad as long as you know what to expect. You are going uphill though so that’s why it’s advisable not to take a small car. We will be back to David and Becky’s cabins!! 🥰”
